The Lord Leycester Hospital is one of the best preserved examples of medieval courtyard architecture in England. A Grade I listed building, and a charity supporting ex-servicemen, it has a 700 year unbroken legacy of people living on the site.
The Lord Leycester also has a fascinating history of filming and television credits going back to the 1960’s. It has long been in regular demand for a wide variety of productions including television series, one-off documentaries, dramas and light entertainment programming, particularly for BBC Television. Following a recent multi-million pound restoration project, it is also once again a bustling visitor attraction.
The Lord Leycester Hospital is run by the Master, a retired military officer, and the current Master Dr. Heidi Meyer is the first woman to hold the office. We will hear from Dr. Meyer about the Lord Leycester’s history and current role, before having a look behind the scenes of this special building.
